A Sri Lankan fishing boat from a frog’s perspective

There is always something going on at our house bay in the south of Sri Lanka, even if the few tourists at first glance are deceptive. The numerous colourful fishing boats that line the beach offer a visual change. In between, there are always a few fishermen working or local children playing. And at the water’s edge, a few tourists are always walking or jogging up and down the beach. Stray dogs scuffle, monkeys climb the palm trees and mangroves, parrots screech and in the evening, when you are waiting on a wobbly chair for the grilled fish, flying foxes fly over the beach. When I compare this with the neighbouring Maldives with its tightly packed bungalow villages, I have the impression that the quality of life here is much better
