Vila Labugolla

‘A British planter named Mr Edmond Winters who was born in the year 1879 discovered the cliff side outcrop up in the central hills.

It was by chance that  the unique location came across & was spotted.

He then went onto plant Coffee in this grand acreage & named his haven ‘Winters Estate’ in the 1900’s.

The  British family settled here and together they built a formidable and lucrative Coffee plantation business during the times of the British Raj.

Over the years, the property passed through generations of owners which finally  became  the homestead of the  Amunugama & Fernando family.

What was a typical plantation bungalow has today been converted to a plush colonial style home proudly carrying the name of ‘Villa Labugolla’, overlooking the spectacular and luscious wilderness, a breathtaking range of mountain tops and the Sabaragamuwa plains.

On a clear sunny day, from atop the ‘Labugolla cliffs’  one could see the mountainous silhouettes of Adam’s Peak, Uthuwam Kanda and  the Bible Rock. Far away in the distance Colombo’s cynosure The stunning Lotus Tower too can be spotted. In short, the view and expanse of a truly natural habitat is a feast for any eye, seeking peace, tranquility and wonder.

Labugolla’s private sanctuary is the home to many endemic species of birds, wild animals, flora and fauna.

Six well appointed rooms with attached bathrooms and a private chalet await the discerning holiday maker. The center point of the property is the infinity pool, overlooking the stunning natural habitat. Whether it is  the sunrise or the sunset, the sight that welcomes yo  will be absolutely breathtaking!

Vegetables & greens served at the Villa are organically grown on the estate while the fresh meats and seafood are sourced from well established outlets in the city. The hallmark of ‘Villa Labugolla’ is the village style cooking of local dishes using only the most flavorful Sri Lankan ingredients.
