Jaffna la tranquille

Jaffna. (Sri Lanka) – Depuis la fin de la guerre des indépendantistes tamouls opposant l’Etat cingalais en 2009, Jaffna est devenue l’une des villes les plus calmes du Sri Lanka. En 2014, seules les matinées et les soirées étaient un peu animées. Sans excès. Le reste de la journée la ville plongeait dans une certaine torpeur et la vie se poursuivait avec lenteur. Jaffna en raison de sa population majoritairement hindouiste ressemble à l’Inde mais sans l’hystérie qui règne dans le sous-continent voisin.
Je pense que cette photo deux ces deux jeunes lycéennes qui rentrent chez elle à vélo est une assez bonne illustration de l’atmosphère qui règne à Jaffna.

I think this picture of two young high school girls riding home on their bikes is a pretty good illustration of the atmosphere in Jaffna.
