Srilanka presents some of the most charming railway journeys. Perhaps the most famous, is the one from Kandy to Colombo which takes you through the tea gardens and the hills and dales of Srilanka. It is one extended soothing green that you behold.

The coaches are a tad noisy with the clink clank of the train wheels and rails. The diesel engines are from China.
It is the cheapest mode of transport in Srilanka
