The Great Thick-knee, with large eyes and huge bill, is a common lowland species near the coast of Sri Lanka. Also known as the Great Stone-curlew this large wader is a resident breeder in tropical southern Asia from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh into South-east Asia. This was one of several birds seen at Bundala National Park.
