The Galle Face Hotel is located on Galle Road, Colombo, Sri Lanka. It is one of the oldest hotels east of Suez. Its name derives from the Galle Face Green, the stretch of lawn which it faces. It is an icon of Sri Lanka’s past and present for over 150 years, expertly blends together colonial design with flawless service and contemporary luxury. Built in 1864 by four British entrepreneurs, and refurbished in 2015 to modernize its amenities and restore the building to its full resplendence, Galle Face Hotel is listed as one of the “1000 Places to See Before You Die” in the book of the same name. The awards this hotel has received include Best Heritage Hotel, Best International Heritage Hotel, and the first hotel in Sri Lanka to be featured on a postage stamp.
