A tea vendor on Meeraniya St, in Aluthkade, Colombo, pours piping hot milky tea. July 2023. Known as ‘yaré thé’ (a yard of tea), because the liquid is often poured from a yard up, it has the effect of cooling it sufficiently to be drunk, and foaming it.
