Masala poori is a savoury variation of the ever-popular poori or Indian fry bread! If you’re looking for an alternative to your daily rice and curry, this dish is perfect for every Lankan’s spicy flavour palate!
Ingredients:
All-Purpose Flour 2 cups
Rulang 2 tbsp
Turmeric 1/8 tsp
Garam Masala ½ tsp
Chilli Powder 1 tsp
Coriander Powder ½ tsp
Grounded Paste – Ginger ¼ inch + Green Chilli 2 nos + Cumin 1 tsp + Pepper 1 tsp
Salt 1 tsp
Oil 2 tbsp
Coriander Leaves ¼ cup
Water
Method:
Prepare the special grounded paste by grinding ginger, green chilli, cumin and pepper.
Add all-purpose flour, rulang, turmeric, garam masala, chilli powder, coriander powder, the grounded paste, salt, oil and chopped coriander leaves into a large mixing bowl.
Mix and add water as required once you start kneading until it forms a firm dough.
Once the dough rests for 10 minutes, divide the dough into medium-sized balls.
Flatten the balls into roti-like shapes and fry both sides in oil until puffed and golden!
