Stock market rebounds; ASPI up by 239 points

The Colombo stock market turned positive today (03) with both indices moving up, recovering from a nosedive yesterday.

The ASPI surged by 239.18 points (or 2.99%) to close at 8,244.50 while the S&P SL20 index, which includes the 20 largest and most liquid stocks increased by 106.07 points (or 3.33%) to close 3,293.45.

The stock market yesterday (02) suffered its worse crash in history. The ASPI crashed down by 561.75 points and the S&P SL20 dived by 251.77 points. Moreover, the market was halted twice, after it’s blue-chip index first dropped 5% and then 7.5% from its previous closing level.

Meanwhile, Rs.6.22 billion turnover was recorded at the CSE today.
