Sri Lankan stocks surge; ASPI crosses 6,000 mark

The main index of the Colombo Stock Exchange, the All Share Price Index (ASPI) crossed the 6,000 mark today (05). The ASPI increased by 98.20 points or 1.66%  to close at 6,004.11 whilst the S&P SL20 Index also increased by 1.28% or 29.57 points to close at 2,347.40.

Meanwhile, the market recorded a daily turnover of Rs.4.28 billion.

During the month of September, the benchmark All Share Price Index (ASPI) of the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) recorded significant gains outperforming all other main indexes around the globe. The ASPI gained 12% in September and in value terms by Rs. 279.6 billion. However in October the ASPI plunged by 4.32%. Nevertheless, it has recorded a growth of 4.84% just within the first 4 days of November.
