Puritas steps up support to SL Army with donation of 5,000 Oxypura face masks

Continuing the efforts to support local authorities in the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic, Puritas, a wholly owned subsidiary of Haycarb PLC and a member of the Hayleys Group, donated 5,000 Oxypura Care masks to the Sri Lanka Army.

This is the fifth consignment of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) donated by Puritas to SL army, bringing the total number of masks provided by the company to 14,000 throughout the year 2020.

Oxypura Care mask which was donated by Puritas, contains 4 layers of protection including a particulate matter filter and activated carbon filters. The Sri Lankan made product has been tested by internationally recognised laboratories, Bureau Veritas in Hong Kong and Nelson Laboratories in the USA, and has been proven to have a bacteria filtration efficiency of more than 99%, a virus filtration efficiency of more than 98% and recommended use of 14 wash cycles.

The Hayleys team comprising of Manura Wickramasinghe, Channa Wijethunga and Eashan Samarasinghe, handed over the masks to the Sri Lanka Army Commander, Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva at Army HQ recently.

“It is the obligation of all Sri Lankans to work towards halting the spread of the ongoing pandemic, and our teams are proud to be of service to support the local authorities in this endeavour. We stand ready to provide any and all required assistance, while working with the health authorities towards flattening the curve. We also wish to reiterate the importance for all citizens to follow the directives of the health authorities, and prudently follow social distancing measures, including the wearing of properly protected face masks,” Haycarb PLC Managing Director, Rajitha Kariyawasan said.

Notably, the company also added the SPORTEC mask to its portfolio recently, which was symbolically handed over to the Army Commander as well. SPORTEC has been specially designed and manufactured for those with an active lifestyle, especially for those exercising and working out. While it provides the same degree of protection as the Care mask, it has been stylishly designed with a one-way valve to assist smooth exhalation and provide comfort during use.

Puritas also has several active carbon based household products, such as FRESKO, Mr. Fresh and Bin Fresh, a 100% bio-degradable eco-friendly activated carbon air purifier pack, which adsorbs and rapidly removes unpleasant odours in the surroundings.

Celebrating a quarter century this year, Puritas is a specialist in water and wastewater purification, the company purifies 5 million litres of raw water, 9.2 million litres of wastewater and 18 million litres of sewage in Sri Lanka every single day.
