Colombo stocks close Monday session on a negative note

Colombo bourse closed Monday (01) session on a negative note. The main index plunged by 101 points (or 1.17%) to end at 8,567.07, whilst the S&P SL20 index, which includes the 20 largest and most liquid stocks also decreased by 75.03 points (or 2.14%) to close at 3,439.15.

Meanwhile, daily market turnover reached Rs.23.7 billion today supported mainly by several crossings recorded in Browns Investments. Here, a total of 2,634,352,470 shares were traded at Rs.6.40 a share in five crossings and contributed to the turnover with Rs.16.85 billion. In addition, LOLC Holdings (Rs.1.37 billion) made significant contribution to the turnover.
