AIA Insurance recognised as a GPTW® for 8th year and Best Workplace for Women for 3rd year

15th February 2021: AIA Insurance is proud to have been recognised as a Great Place to Work® in Sri Lanka for the eighth consecutive year. The company was also adjudged the ‘Best Workplace for Women in Sri Lanka’ for the third straight year.

For 2020, AIA passed the rigorous measurements through analysis of results of the Great Place to Work® Trust Index© survey and Culture Audit© questionnaire and scored among the best in the country, thus receiving this global recognition.

AIA’s Director HR- Thushari Perera noted that “consistently winning this prestigious award is an indication of the emphasis we place on employee wellbeing. As a company committed to helping people live healthier, longer, better lives, we prioritize the health, happiness and wellbeing of our staff. This is how we have differentiated AIA as a great place to work for our employees and established ourselves as a superlative employer of choice.”

She added, ‘the Best Workplace for Women’ award is an important recognition for AIA, as it is testament and recognition of all the hard work and focus, we put into gender equity and parity. AIA is an equal opportunity employer that values all our employees, regardless of gender and our commitment is to ensure a truly fair and productive workplace for all staff. We understand that gender parity is central in having a dynamic balanced workforce and needless to say, our female staff play an integral part in our business success. I am happy to see our efforts in creating a female friendly working environment with gender smart polices being recognized and appreciated.”

2020 was a challenging year for staff engagement due to the pandemic. Notably, AIA was able to transition smoothly to the Work-From-Home situation, with concerted efforts made to keep employees engaged and feeling supported. AIA used online platforms such as MS Teams and Facebook live to engage employees with helpful sessions on mindfulness and meditation and achieving that fine work-life balance when working from home. AIA also hosted the company’s first ever digital Company Conference to celebrate employees for their commitment and contribution to the company. Not to forget the Sinhala and Tamil New Year celebrations, which is usually a red-letter day in the company’s calendar and was conducted via Teams – with staff and families taking part in games, beauty pageants and costume competition for kids.  Despite the obstacles posed by the pandemic and curfew, AIA was able to keep staff engaged and motivated throughout the year.
