AASL Employees Children in Familiarization Visit to Colombo Port City

Airport & Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Limited organized a special field visit to CHEC Port City for the children of AASL staff. The Port City Project can be considered as the brand new city development which is built as an extension of the Central Business District of Sri Lanka’s vibrant commercial capital, Colombo. Accordingly, 200 nos of school children from grade 7 to 13  were provided this rare opportunity to visit the Port City Project, the single largest foreign investment in Sri Lanka.

AASL organized this program under the guidance of Major General (Rtd.) G. A. Chandrasiri, Chairman, AASL and the objective of the program was to raise awareness of the students, on South Asia’s premiere residential, retail and business destination, offering unmatched planned city living along warm waters of the Indian Ocean and its contribution to the Sri Lanka’s economy.

During the visit, the students got an opportunity to witness the process of spanning of  269 hectares reclaimed land from the sea. The senior officials from PORT City Project explained the Master Plan for Port City and the 5 different precincts of the project including the financial district, central park living, island living, the Marina & the international island.

Children were then taken from and escorted back to Bandaranaike International Airport in air-conditioned buses and scrumptious meals were served to the children while they explored all of the numerous aspects of the Port City project.
