Tourist arrivals cross 55,000 in first 12 days of November

Tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka for the first twelve days of November totaled 55,491, indicating an improved rate compared to the previous month.
Provisional data from the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) revealed that the daily arrival average has increased to 4,624.
As of November 12, 2023, cumulative arrivals from January 1 reached 1,180,946.
There is a notable shift in the source markets for Sri Lanka tourism in November, with India dropping to the second position from its previous status as the largest tourist traffic generator. The neighbouring country has contributed 18 percent of the total arrivals for November so far.
The new leader is the Russian Federation, contributing 17 percent of the total arrivals for November.
Germany surpassed the United Kingdom, moving from the third largest source market to the fourth position, constituting 12 percent of the total arrivals.
