– I buddisti credono che il tempio sia stato santificato durante la terza e ultima visita di Buddha in Sri Lanka, otto anni dopo aver ottenuto l’illuminazione. La sua fondazione risalirebbe quindi a prima del 500 a.C.

– Buddhists believe the temple to have been hallowed during the third and final visit of the Lord Buddha to Sri Lanka, eight years after gaining enlightenment.[4] Its history would thus go back to before 500 BCE.
