Pancetta | Restaurant Review

They don’t call it ‘Pancetta’ for nothing!

Pancetta is a gem of a restaurant located in the heart of Colombo, specialising in pork-based dishes that are sure to satisfy any pork connoisseur’s cravings.

One of the highlights of Pancetta was its diverse food menu, which offers a fusion of flavours from different cuisines, including Sri Lankan, Mexican, English, Italian, and Chinese, all with a creative twist of bacon. It’s a unique concept that sets Pancetta apart from other restaurants in the area, and it’s a true delight for pork enthusiasts like you and I.

Mains

Bacon Pollo Croccante Burger – LKR 2,450 (5/5)

You know a good burger when you see one. This bacon and crispy chicken burger at Pancetta was an absolute pleasure to try out. The burger was built with generous amounts of juicy tomatoes, tangy gherkins, fresh iceberg lettuce and in-house garlic mayo sauce, making it out to be a meal worth the mess. Oh and it came with a side of fries! I can’t recommend this dish enough.

No 28 Kottu – LKR 1,800 (4.5/5)

This nai miris and bacon kottu was another flavourful dish. Infused with spices, vegetables and succulent pork, this dish was elevated with their in-house cheese sauce, which added a wonderful creaminess to it. For spice lovers, it could have used a bit more nai miris to let the heat shine through. Nevertheless, it’s a tasty and filling option for those who enjoy bold flavours in their food.

Dang Dang noodles – LKR 2,400 (4.5/5)

Don’t let its mild appearance fool you. For spice lovers, the Dang Dang noodles is a must-try. Sitting under the perfectly boiled spaghetti and a side of minced pork, was a bed of Pancetta’s spicy, in-house chilli sauce. This dish had a fiery punch that was balanced out by the freshness of bok choy. While the heat from the chilli sauce sparked a tantalising kick to every bite, a more generous serving of minced pork would have really elevated the dish’s depth of flavour and texture.

Beverages

Passion Mojito – LKR 900 (5/5)

The Passion Mojito at Pancetta was an energising spin on the popular drink. The tangy taste of the passion fruit was perfectly balanced with the right amount of mint, creating a lovely blend of sweet and refreshing flavours. It was a delightful drink to accompany my meal, and left a pleasant aftertaste that lingered on my palate.

Milo Shake – LKR 1,200 (4/5)

Lastly, we tried the Milo shake, which was a nostalgic treat for those who love the chocolate malt drink. The Milo and milk were blended to perfection, creating a creamy and indulgent shake. While the shake could have gone a little less heavy on the sugar to enhance the overall experience, it was still very much enjoyable.

Ambience

As soon as you step into the restaurant, you are greeted by a cosy and comfortable interior with ample seating space. The lighting was perfect and really set the mood for a relaxed and comfortable dining experience. The option for private dining added to the intimate setting, and the indoor and outdoor dining options provided a lovely range of choice.

The staff at Pancetta were friendly and welcoming, providing excellent service from the moment you entered the restaurant. They were knowledgeable about the menu and happy to assist with any questions or recommendations, making you feel right at home. Whether you’re looking for a romantic dinner or a casual meal with friends, they are ready for you!
