Nasi Goreng | Cooking with Aunty D

Craving an authentic Indonesian dish but don’t feel like going out to get it?

Here’s how you can make a spicy nasi goreng at home! 

 

Ingredients: 

Carrot 1 medium

Green Onion 1/4 cup 

Garlic 3 nos 

Ginger 1/4 inch

Basmati Rice 2 cups

Water 3 1/2 cups

Boneless Chicken 200 g

Butter 1 tbsp 

Salt 1/2 tsp 

Pepper 1/2 tsp 

Indonesian Chilli Paste 1 tsp 

Dark Soy Sauce 2 tbsp

Cabbage 1/4 cup 

 

Method:

First, slice the carrot and green onion and leave aside.

Put garlic and ginger in a mortar to make a paste. 

Wash basmati rice in a separate bowl. 

Slice the chicken into small bite-size pieces.

To a pan, add butter and fry the sliced chicken pieces. 

While frying, add salt, pepper, and Indonesian chilli paste (or any kind of chilli paste).

Let it fry for a bit and then add dark soy sauce, chopped carrot, cooked rice and mix it well. 

Finish off by adding sliced cabbage and green onion, and give it a final mix.  

Voila, you got yourself some warm nasi goreng to enjoy by yourself or if you are feeling generous, with your whole family!
