Mung Kavum | Cooking with Aunty D

Ingredients: 

Mung Beans 2 cups

Coconut Treacle 1/2 cup

Rice Flour 1 cup

Salt 1/2 tsp

Turmeric Powder 1/2 tsp

Egg 1 nos

Water 1 cup

Maggi Real Coconut Milk Powder 2 tbsp

Maggi Real Coconut Milk 1/2 cup

Oil (To fry)

Method: 

Fry Mung beans on a pan until brown and then remove from heat.

Add coconut treacle onto a pan and let it simmer on the heat for a while.

Crush the mung beans that were used earlier, add them to the warm treacle and mix well into a paste.

Add the remaining ground mung onto a chopping board or flat surface, followed by the mung and treacle paste and use a rolling pin to flatten the paste.

Use a knife to cut the flattened paste into kavum shapes.

Next, add rice flour into a bowl followed by, salt, turmeric powder and an egg.

Get a separate bowl, add water, Maggi Real Coconut Milk Powder and mix well.

Add the Maggi Real Coconut Milk into the rice flour bowl and mix well into a paste.

Dip the kavum into the paste and shallow fry in a pan until golden brown.
