Ingredient:
Grated Coconut 1 1/2 cups
Treacle 1 cup
Water 1/2 cup
Salt 1/4 tsp
Sugar 1/2 cup
Kurakkan Flour 1 1/2 cups
All Purpose Flour 1/4 cup
Method:
In a pan, add some grated coconut followed by treacle and water.
Next, add some salt and sugar.
Mix well until the coconut mixture turns brown.
Proceed to add kurakkan flour, followed by all-purpose flour.
Give it one last mix.
Once it has cooled down, take a small portion in your hand, shape it into a ball and press it against a kenda leaf.
Let the halapa steam for 7- 10 minutes.
Once fully steamed your Avurudu treat is ready to enjoy!
