Who said we can’t drink on Mondays?

Can we all agree that, even though drinking on a Monday is considered almost barbaric, oftentimes, it is the day of the week that we really need a drink?

Also, ladies, do I have good news for you! The Breeze Bar at Cinnamon Grand is switching up from the usual vibe and giving you ladies a chance to let loose, as they now host Ladies Night every Monday! You will be entitled to receive a – wait for it – free flow of unlimited cocktails from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and they also have extended Happy Hour deals from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Mondays.

The ladies from Team Pulse were invited to check out some of their delicious cocktails and mouth-watering dishes from their bar menu. And you can trust us when we say it felt so good to get groovy and indulge in some cocktails after an exceptionally long Monday.

Drinks 

With the complimentary cocktails, there is an unlimited supply of drinks until 7:00 PM! However, they will charge for any drinks ordered from their cocktail menu.

Narang and Arrack Cocktail (complimentary) 

This was such an interesting combination indeed, but it was definitely a combination that worked! The narang was not too sweet nor too sour, and the flavour blended well with that of the arrack. The salt that they coat on the rim of the glass is the cherry on top, completely elevating the flavour of the drink. I was quite sceptical to see that they had added some pepper in the drink too, but my oh my, did it add a very subtle spice kick that I loved!

 

Herbal Mojito (complimentary)

This is not your basic mojito. It included curry leaves instead of mint leaves! And who would have thought that a drink infused with rum, curry leaves, and lime juice would work so well together? It was strong, refreshing, authentically Sri Lankan, and the perfect drink to relax and unwind with.

 

B52 (LKR 1200) 

This is more of a shot, as opposed to a drink. With Kahlua, Baileys, and Cointreau sitting one on top of the other, this shot was strong. And I mean, STRONG. But, it was equally so good. It felt like you were having a shot of your mother’s milk coffee, but with alcohol included instead. And what I absolutely loved about this shot was the very subtly sweet aftertaste it left; it almost tasted like Kulfi, the Indian dessert. If you’re looking for that instant buzz to help you relax and unwind, one B52 will do just the job! 10/10 for sure!

 

Apple Martini (LKR 1200) 

Let me set the scene for you. It’s a warm Monday, with regular power cuts wearing you down more than usual. You’ve had an exceptionally hard day, solving 1001 problems. You’re tired, thirsty, and exhausted. You take a sip from an ice-cool drink, and it instantly refreshes you. This is precisely what I experienced when I tried this Apple Martini. As someone who’s more inclined to like sweet cocktails, the Apple Martini quickly became my favourite. The apple flavour is the first thing you taste from the very first sip, and the sweetness of the apple flavour was not too overpowering as well. The texture of the drink was so smooth. You could easily sip away glasses of this martini, and it could keep you coming back for more!

 

Matador (LKR 1200) 

If you’re a fruity person, you’ll fall in love with this drink! It’s sophisticated, punchy, and strong – the perfect drink for all my girls who like to part-ay! If this drink were an emoji, it would be the dancing lady with the red dress. The fruity flavour was very well balanced, allowing the flavour of the tequila and the triple sec to give your tongue a subtle zing.

 

Flamingo (LKR 1200)

If romance is a drink, it would be the Flamingo! Strawberry and Peach flavours infused with vodka, this drink tastes like a dream! The drink was smooth and flavourful; it is sure to get you in the mood to let loose and get a little romancey with your beau. Needless to say, I definitely recommend you try this!

 

Mains

Garlic Fried Pork (LKR 1400) 

Crispy, crunchy, and a little chewy, these are the perfect bites to munch on while sipping some delicious cocktails. The garlic flavour was delicious, and the spring onions that acted as a garnish were a perfect combination. Pork lovers, this is your chance to satisfy your cravings!

 

Beef Black Pepper (LKR 1400)

Even though the dish is named ‘Beef Black Pepper’, there was a sweetness to the dish that was unexpected but was very welcoming. And yes, the spice kick that the pepper brings was also very evident as we tried the dish. The dish was very chewy, but it was so flavoursome that you won’t get enough of it.

 

Hot Butter Cuttlefish (LKR 1400)

This is hands down, the best Hot Butter Cuttlefish dish I’ve personally had. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, this dish was definitely a winner! I’ve always noticed that other Hot Butter Cuttlefish dishes would be very hard to chew and swallow, but this dish was as juicy as cuttlefish could get, still preserving the crunch that we all love. The seasoning was on point; it was salty and spicy, and there was a very subtle hint of sweetness to the dish too. Absolutely heavenly!

 

Hamburger Pizza (LKR LKR 1500)

This was like the classic sausage pizza that everyone loves, but a much more succulent version. Cheesy, with the perfect amount of tomato sauce and tender sausages laid on top, this pizza made me swoon! The portion size was excellent for the price we paid, and the seasoning was on point. Pro tip: this dish will definitely help calm the buzz from all the drinks, so you’ll be able to get back home safely!

 

Ambience

What better way to end a Monday than to soak in poolside views that will help you forget all the pent-up tension? Add some groovy music played by a DJ while enjoying some cocktails with your besties to the picture.

The Breeze Bar blessed us with warm, inviting interiors, and comfortable seating; the vibe was immaculate. It is the perfect place for a much-needed night out with your girls. The staff members were super friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Their service was very efficient; we didn’t have to wait long for our orders to arrive. It was a fantastic experience, to say the least, and I am sure to make Ladies Night on Mondays a more regular activity!

Tip: Munching on Hot Butter Cuttlefish while sipping an Apple Martini is the way to go!
