Aggala is a traditional Sri Lankan rice ball that is essentially sweet with a little kick of pepper in it. Ever tried making it at home? Aunty D is here to teach you how!
Ingredients:
Rice 2 cups
Peppercorns 6 nos
Coconut Treacle 3/4 cup
Sugar 1/4 cup
Grated Coconut 1 1/2 cup
Method:
To a pot, add rice and peppercorns, and roast until golden brown.
Finely grind the roasted rice and pepper.
To make the pani pol, heat up a pot with coconut treacle, sugar and grated coconut, and combine.
Add the finely ground roasted rice and pepper into the pot and mix well.
Take the pot off the heat and roll the mixture into tiny bite-sized balls. Enjoy!
