The All Share Price Index (ASPI) of the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) plunged by more than 700 points on Monday (07), dropping below the 15,000-point threshold.
The ASPI closed at 14,660.45, down 712.9 points or 4.64% from the previous trading session.
Meanwhile, the S&P SL20 index fell sharply by 264.57 points or 5.84%, ending the day at 4,268.78.
Trading was temporarily halted for 30 minutes in the morning after the S&P SL20 index declined more than 5% from the previous close, triggering circuit breakers.
Turnover for the day stood at Rs. 6.4 billion, according to data from the Colombo Stock Exchange.
