The Sri Lankan Supreme Court will hear a fundamental rights petition on June 27 seeking Rs. 15.9 billion in losses allegedly incurred by cutting taxes on imported sugar during former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s administration. The case was ordered to proceed for the scheduled date. May 18, 2026.
