Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Meerut’s metro service and dedicated the 82-km Delhi-Meerut rapid rail corridor to the nation. The Meerut Metro operates at 120 kmph, making it India’s fastest metro system. The integrated line is expected to reduce Delhi–Meerut travel time to about 55 minutes.
