No power cuts despite record demand, officials call for energy savings

Sri Lanka experienced its highest-ever electricity demand last Monday as dry weather strained the power system, though there were no power cuts. Officials, including Dr. B. L. Pradeep Priyadarshana Perera, chairman of the National System Operator (Pvt.) Ltd., urged citizens to conserve energy.
