China’s central bank and Sri Lanka’s central bank signed a memorandum of cooperation to establish renminbi (yuan) clearing arrangements in Sri Lanka. The agreement aims to facilitate yuan settlement and payments between the two countries, per a statement from the People’s Bank of China released on January 29, 2026.
