IMF flags coal quality issues driving Sri Lanka power costs

The IMF’s Sri Lanka mission chief, Evan Papageorgiou, warned that coal quality and procurement problems are driving higher electricity generation costs in Sri Lanka. In a recent press briefing, he highlighted how inadequate coal quality and supply arrangements are impacting the country’s power sector economics.
