Army colonel plans to lead Madagascar after coup ousts civilian president

Colonel Michael Randrianirina, Madagascar’s new military ruler, plans to be sworn in as president on Friday. He is willing to engage in discussions with the African Union, which suspended Madagascar’s membership following the coup that removed President Andry Rajoelina.
