Sri Lankan Airlines takes pride in having connected Australia with continued services throughout the hard times of the pandemic by operating passenger and cargo flights to Melbourne and Sydney without any interruptions in service despite many other carriers having ceased operations for commercial reasons.

We have connected over 13,800 stranded Indians to reunite with their loved ones throughout the pandemic where unprecedented closures of international borders and discontinuation of commercial airline operations were witnessed, leaving thousands of people stranded.

Over 3300 passengers from Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh stranded in Australia were also repatriated rendering a yeoman service to the Indian Sub-Continent region with our relief and repatriation efforts.

We also carried in approximately 1500 stranded Australians on capped flights to Sydney and Melbourne and carried 3000kg of humanitarian cargo out of Australia free of charge.

When the Melbourne Airport opened in the interim following five months into the first global lockdown, SriLankan Airlines was the first international airline to touchdown.

It has been our outmost pleasure to have been there for the people of Australia during these trying times by facilitating essential travel and keeping trade lanes and supply chains open and supporting business and manufacturing plants to continue uninterrupted in Australia with the carriage and supply of logistics for approximately 11,000 tons of air cargo.
