This Superarc is one of the last 35mm cinema film projectors in Sri Lanka, and Sandapana is one of the last projectionists qualified to operate it. When they’re gone this era of analogue movies will truly be over. Visible are the controls for the Photophone system, which projects sound along a modulated light beam; a technology that goes back to 1880, when it was invented by Alexander Graham Bell and Charles Tainter.
