Pédaler avec un bras cassé

Sigiriya (Sri-Lanka) – Ce petit village est classée au patrimoine mondial de l’humanité pour son site archéologique, le « Rocher du Lion ». Il attire de nombreux touristes, mais bien peu y séjournent au-delà tu temps de la visite. Moi j’y suis resté plusieurs jours, prenant le temps d’échanger avec la population locale. Les dernières statistiques disponibles indiquent moins de 1000 habitants.
Je suis assis tranquillement à la terrasse d’un restaurant qui borde la seule et unique rue principale de Sigiriya. En attendant la préparation du plat que j’ai commandé, , assis dans mon fauteuil en osier, pour m’occuper, je photographie les gens qui passent. Le cadrage de cette photo devait lui valoir de ne pas être archivée. Mais j’ai réalisé que ce cycliste avait un bras cassé, rendant la photo plus intéressante. Pédaler dans ces conditions en cas de chute pouvait aussi lui coûter ses dents.

Cycling with a broken arm

Sigiriya (Sri Lanka) – This small village is listed as a World Heritage Site for its archaeological site, the “Lion Rock”. It attracts many tourists, but very few stay there beyond the time of the visit. I stayed there for several days, taking the time to chat with the local population. The latest available statistics indicate fewer than 1000 inhabitants.
I am sitting quietly on the terrace of a restaurant that borders the one and only main street of Sigiriya. While waiting for the preparation of the dish I ordered, sitting in my wicker chair, to occupy myself, I photograph the people passing by. The framing of this photo should have meant that it was not archived. But I realized that this cyclist had a broken arm, making the photo more interesting. Cycling in these conditions in the event of a fall could also cost him his teeth.
