Here we see Sri Lankan railways Class M6 number 792 crossing 3 arch viaduct east of Ella working the mixed goods 0335 Kandy to Badulla.
Another opportunity to put the drone to good use and get a slightly different angle.
These german built locomotives date back to 1979. They are powered by American built V12 EMD 645s rated at 1650hp. These locos have A1A wheel arrangement and are the dominant traction in the mountain area.
In an effort to conserve fuel which has been scarce in Sri Lanka over the past few years ,freight wagons are incorporated into passenger trains.
Note the semaphore signal on the hill.
