Haliaeetus leucogaster – White-Bellied Sea Eagle – Yala National Park August 2023

(Volunteer and photographer: Tristan Smith) During a Safari in Yala National Park with Onadi Yala Safari, I came across this White-Bellied Sea Eagle perching on a dead tree at the edge of Yalas main lake. I’d been waiting to get close for the eagles for a few days and was lucky enough to experience this encounter on one of my last days.
The numerous eagles in Sri Lanka are a prime example of the Islands spectacular biodiversity, Sri Lanka is particularly rich in stunning wildlife, thanks to conservation works such as that seen in yala, these animals can be observed and enjoyed. It is important to maintain and to continue working to protect and preserve wildlife, here at Fair Earth we wish to help show the world Sri Lankas wildlife to educate and inspire.
