As Sweet As Kandy

When the conditions are right sunsets can be spectacular in Sri Lanka yet brief. The closeness to the equator means that you can go from sundown to pitch black in about 20 mins but during that period the sky will pass through every colour of the rainbow. Having been bowled the previous night I set myself up for a shot of this gantry silhouetted against the spectacular sky. No trains were booked in or out of Kandy but as luck would have it this Leeds built Y Class Hunslet shunter (vintage 1969) pulled up next to me. I quickly reset my camera for a time exposure and managed this shot of 683 posing with a fuel wagon.
