940015: Kandy is Quite Lovely….

Sri Lanka: Kandy

I took the photo above in 1983, the first time I visited Sri Lanka. This visit was prior to the civil war.
I’ve been fortunate to visit a few times since then.
Kandy is quite lovely – with such a name, how could it not be. Today, it is possible to drive from Colombo in a couple of hours, or take a bus or train, and go there-and-back in a day. But why hurry…. Kandy is quite genteel; and although on occasions it can seem hectic, the town still has the atmosphere and the reminders of an earlier time.
