The death toll from a tragic bus accident at Gerandi Ella in Ramboda has risen to 21, police confirmed. The incident occurred early this morning (11) when a Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) bus veered off the Nuwara Eliya–Gampola main road and fell down a steep precipice.
At least 35 other passengers sustained injuries and have been admitted to the Nuwara Eliya and Kotmale hospitals for treatment.
Authorities are yet to identify the victims. The ill-fated bus was travelling from Kataragama to Kurunegala via Nuwara Eliya at the time of the crash.
