Nimesh Herath assumes duties as the Chairman of UDA

Mr Nimesh Herath assumed duties as the Chairman of the Urban Development Authority (UDA) on 04th August 2022. The Urban Development Authority is committed to achieving a planned, sustained and adored urbanization in Sri Lanka with the mission to promote integrated planning and implementation for the economic, social, environmental and physical development of the declared urban development areas. UDA comes under the purview of the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing and Mr. Herath has been granted this appointment by the subject minister Mr. Prasanna Ranathunga.

Mr Nimesh Herath holds the Honours Degree in Computing from the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT). He is also a postgraduate degree holder in Marketing and Management at the Postgraduate Institute of Marketing (PIM) in University of Jayawardenepura. Mr Nimesh Herath is also an alumnus of the Ananda College, Colombo.

Mr. Nimesh Herath has served as a member of the Advisory Board to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority. He has over fifteen years of professional experience in different sectors such as hospitality management, state sector project management, marketing, business development, sales and marketing management, human resource management and digital marketing.

Mr. Nimesh is a strategic, analytical and results-oriented individual who has gained immense experience in the field of management and marketing. UDA looks forward to blending his perspicacity with the expertise skills of its own professional staff in order to ensure sustainable urban development in Sri Lanka.

During his address at the time of assuming duties at the UDA, Mr. Nimesh Herath emphasized that UDA has a significant role to play in recovering the country from the current economic crisis. He stressed that UDA should be self-financing and should not depend on treasury funds. Mr. Nimesh Herath also highlighted the importance of state organizations to blend with modern technology and also requested the staff of UDA to provide the best service to all its clients bearing the wise qualities such as equity and humanity in mind.
