Discussion on provision of Doing Business Index prepared by World Bank

Under the Patronage of Hon. Ajith Nivard Cabraal, State Minister of Money & Capital Markets and State Enterprise Reforms held a discussion on the provision of Doing business index prepared by the World Bank at the Ministry of Finance premises Thursday (01).
In 2010, Sri Lanka was ranked 105th in the index. By 2014, the then Mahinda Rajapaksa government had elevated Sri Lanka to 85th position in the index, and by the end of 2019, Sri Lanka had slipped back to 99th position in the index. With the new government launching a number of pro-business initiatives, a very business-friendly environment has already been created in Sri Lanka.
Data pertaining to 11 criteria constituting the index were evaluated by the Minister together with officials of the relevant institutions including the Dr W.D Lakshman, Governor of the Central Bank, R.M.A Ratnayaka Secretary to the State Ministry and R M P Ratnayaka Deputy secretary to the treasury participated in this discussion.
