The Adani Group has denied reports that its 484 MW wind power projects in Mannar and Pooneryn have been cancelled, calling them “false and misleading.”
In an official statement, a spokesperson clarified that the Sri Lankan Cabinet’s decision on January 2, 2025, to reevaluate the tariff approved in May 2024 is a standard review process undertaken by the new government. The review is intended to ensure alignment with the country’s updated energy policies and priorities.
“The project has not been cancelled,” the spokesperson emphasized, reiterating Adani’s commitment to investing $1 billion in Sri Lanka’s green energy sector. The company aims to contribute to renewable energy development and drive economic growth in the country.
Adani’s wind power projects are expected to play a pivotal role in advancing Sri Lanka’s transition to sustainable energy, aligning with both national and regional goals for a greener future.
