A species of orchid ranging from Mexico to Central America, southeastern Venezuela. It is known as Kandyan Dancer Orchid in Sri Lanka due to its resemblance to a Kandyan dancer. The Kandyan dance is considered the national dance of Sri Lanka….it is associated with state ceremony and religious ritual and is popular and native to the area called Kandy of the Central hills region.
