Stock market today: Increase in foreign buying

Stocks ended Tuesday’s session on a mixed note. Colombo’s main, All Share Price Index fell 11.85 points to close at 5,934.23 and the S&P SL20 index of most liquid stocks gained 4.81 points to end at 2,387.56.

The market turnover was Rs. 2.2 billion out of which domestic purchases accounted for Rs.1.87 billion and foreign purchases amounted for Rs. 386.50 million. This is an increase in foreign purchases comparing to the last 5 days. Last week, total foreign purchases accounted for Rs. 271.70 million.

Meanwhile, today domestic sales accounted to Rs.1.74 billion and Foreign sales amounted to Rs.516.08 million.

Today, LOLC Holdings PLC contributed most to ASPI’s fall. Other stocks which contributed to ASPI’s fall were Carson Cumberbatch, Sri Lanka Telecom and Commercial Bank of Ceylon.
