Mirisawetiya Dagaba has been built by King Dutugamunu (161-137 BC). The stupa was restored in the 1980’s but collapsed in 1987, destroying one of the best Vahalkada structures of the Anuradhapura era. The present stupa lost all historic features of the original. It was completed in 1993 and measures 59 metres in height and 43 metres in diameter. A British scholar, who examined the monument in the late 19th century, recorded a diameter of 51 meters and a height of about 61 meters. Source: www.wikipedia.org.
